Fulham submit proposal to sign Natan
Fulham will look to sign 25-year-old Brazilian centre-back Natan from La Liga club Real Betis in the summer transfer window.

According to an update from reputed French journalist Santi Aouna, Natan is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a centre-back in the final weeks of the window, and they have set their sights on the 25-year-old Real Betis defender.

Per Santi Aouna, Fulham have "made an offer" to sign the South American defender, though they have not put all their eggs in one basket. The West Londoners are also interested in Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal, while intermediaries have offered Leonardo Balerdi to them.

Who is Natan?
Natan has established himself as one of the most dependable defenders in La Liga since joining Real Betis from Napoli. Born in Itapecerica da Serra, the 25-year-old spent his formative years in Brazil, passing through the academies at Escolinha AERT, Rio Branco-ES, Porto Vitória, and AA Ponte Preta before graduating from the youth division at CR Flamengo.

However, the Brazilian defender had to bide his time before landing on his feet, as he could not establish a stable foothold until he joined Real Betis. The player has made over 100 appearances for the Andalusian outfit, having been a mainstay at the back for them. Meanwhile, his progress has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs, with Fulham among his prospective suitors.

Premier League move on the horizon?
Fulham's interest in Natan makes logical sense. The Cottagers are scouring the market for a centre-back, as Issa Diop has joined Ipswich Town in the ongoing transfer window. Additionally, recent reports have linked Jorge Cuenca with a move away from the West London club, with SL Benfica interested in him.

So, Fulham must pursue a centre-back in the final weeks of the summer transfer window, as Joachim Andersen and Calvin Bassey are the only players in Alvaro Arbeloa's squad. Several candidates, including Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal, have thus emerged on Fulham's wishlist, with Natan also a viable target.

However, it is unclear if Fulham's offer to sign the Brazilian defender will be enough to convince Real Betis to part ways with him. Additionally, the Cottagers may face stiff competition for his signature, as recent reports have linked him with Barcelona, Leeds United, and Newcastle United.

FPL SCOUT: FULHAM'S FIRING FULL-BACKS
Fulham have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.

Scout will be using their expertise to provide advice and gameweek tips which should prove useful in ensuring you win your mini-leagues.

Fulham finished pre-season on a high, securing a 1-0 home win over VfB Stuttgart thanks to Timothy Castagne's (£4.5m) header.

It marked the third successive match featuring a goal-scoring full-back, after Ryan Sessegnon (£4.5m) and Antonee Robinson (£4.5m) found the net in previous outings against Málaga and Crystal Palace.

Castagne also has two pre-season assists to his name, illustrating the admitted importance of full-backs to the new Head Coach's style of play. All three are currently differentials in FPL, with ownerships under 10%.

Another stand-out performer in Fulham's 2026/27 preparations has been Alex Iwobi (£5.5m). Having finished last term as the Club's highest scoring attacker in FPL, the Nigeria international has delivered two goals and two assists in pre-season, his latest such return coming from the set piece that supplied Castagne's goal against Stuttgart.

Up front, new signing Gonzalo García (£6.0m) has started in each of the last three pre-season matches, and is a player readily familiar with his manager after playing under him at former club Real Madrid. Gonzalo looks like a great differential option for FPL managers to invest in.

Whilst Joachim Andersen (£5.0m) is suspended for Gameweek 1, he and fellow centre-back Calvin Bassey (£4.5m) look like fantastic routes to defensive contribution points for managers this season.

Gameweek 1 opponents

Chelsea, Fulham's opposition at Craven Cottage in Gameweek 1, only finished above the Whites on goal difference last season, with both teams level on 52 points.

That's despite Blues top-scorer João Pedro (£7.5m) finishing with 15 Premier League goals, nine assists and 177 FPL points.

Popular FPL players in 2026/27

Manchester City frontman Erling Haaland (£15.5m) is the most owned player in FPL ahead of the Gameweek 1 deadline.

Despite a hefty starting price hike, Haaland is owned by more than 70% of FPL squads. Cheaper popular forwards ahead of Gameweek 1 include Leeds' Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6.0m) and Sunderland's Brian Brobbey (£6.0m).

Elsewhere, Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes (£12.0m) is currently the most popular FPL midfielder. He is followed in that regard by his teammate Bryan Mbeumo (£8.0m), Liverpool's Dominik Szoboszlai (£7.0m) and Manchester City's Antoine Semenyo (£8.5m). More affordable options, meanwhile, include Sunderland's Enzo Le Fee (£6.0m), Brighton's Pascal Groß (£5.5m) and Everton's Iliman Ndiaye (£6.0m), all of whom could be on spot-kick duty this season.

Arsenal's Gabriel Magalhaes (£8.0m) remains FPL's most popular defender despite his lofty price tag, with teammate Riccardo Calafiori (£5.5m) not far behind.

Man Utd's Luke Shaw (£4.5m), Tottenham's Pedro Porro (£5.5m) plus Man City duo Nico O'Reilly (£6.5m) and Marc Guehi (£6.0m) are the other defenders owned by over 20% of all FPL managers, while the game's most popular goalkeepers include Arsenal's David Raya (£6.0m), Spurs' Antonin Kinsky (£4.5m) and Brighton's Bart Verbruggen (£4.5m).

Why the River Cafe is quintessentially Fulham
Is it part of your matchday experience?

If you head to Craven Cottage via Putney Bridge on the District Line, then you'll know all about River Cafe.

You can't miss it; as you flood out of station's overflow gates, it's right in front of you. And if you, like me, rock up around lunchtime, it's the perfect place to grab some pre-game scran.

It's not to be mistaken for the posh, Michelin-starred establishment just up the road in Hammersmith - though many neutrals might mistakenly assume that's where Fulham fans love to eat before a match.

No, head in this River Cafe, and you'll feel right at home. It's proper Fulham. It's been a family business since the 1960s - the current owners have been there since the 1980s or 90s, a family member tells me. Football shirts and scarves adorn the walls and ceiling - plenty of them FFC.

The whole place is like a time capsule - and that's not to be derogatory in any way.

Striking white and blue wall tiles, Vitrolite ceiling panels (the history of which is described here), varnished wooden chairs and well-cared-for formica tables take you back to the halcyon days of the good old-fashioned British caff, which has long since made way for trendier eateries that are more likely to offer smashed avocado on toast or Greek yoghurt with chia seeds than Full English breakfasts or bacon butties.

You may well recognise it when you're inside; the cafe's featured in a bunch of films - including King of Thieves and Dead in a Week - as well as fashion shoots, with brands like Axel Arigato snapping its wares there.

The cafe tells me that the attention is partly from football, but partly due to its charm.

"The cafe is quite unique, and it's very old-fashioned. It's got a good vibe And cafes are beginning to dwindle. There's not so many places like ours anymore, and some of the famous ones are going now."

How does River Cafe describe its relationship with the Fulham Faithful?

"Oh, strong -very strong. My husband always says to anyone who comes in 'I'm a Fulham boy, I'm born and bred; I was raised here'. He's a local - and this is family run."

And it's message to any fans yet to sample its goods?

"Come have a look, support us. We've got a pictures of Fulham players, we've got the Fulham kits. We've just got another signed Fulham top [for the wall]. So we try and support [the club] and we need as many supporters [as we can get]."

So, if you're not already a regular, why not take the tube to Putney Bridge and grab yourself some grub before the Whites pick up the dub?

MATCH REPORT: FULHAM U21 (H)
Hull City have been credited with interest in a Fulham, Everton and AFC Bournemouth-linked winger

Aldershot Town's National League Cup campaign began with a 2–2 draw against Fulham

U21s on Tuesday evening, although the visitors had claimed the extra point by winning the

ensuing penalty shoot-out. Jayden Quashie and Nazim Benchalita had twice put Fulham

ahead, only for Marcus Wyllie and Hakeem Sandah to draw us level and earn the Shots a

share of the spoils after 90 minutes.

It was the Shots' first evening fixture of the season, with a beautiful summer sunset

providing the backdrop at the EBB. Fulham, who was being manager by Dan Thomas, had

arrived in Hampshire having enjoyed a strong pre-season, winning four of their six fixtures.

Among the Cottagers' coaching staff was former Shots manager Steve Wigley, who had

returned to the EBB Stadium for the first time since his managerial spell at the club

between 1995 and 1997.

KICK OFF

The Cottagers had made a bright start, attacking down the right-hand flank before a

dangerous cross found an unmarked Jayden Quashie, who had tapped home to give the

visitors an early 1–0 lead.

Fulham continued to dominate possession in the opening stages, looking to create

opportunities through the wide areas as the Shots struggled to settle. Aldershot had

managed to create two chances of their own through their high press but had been unable

to find the finishing touch needed to draw level.

Fulham had gone close to doubling their advantage after being awarded a free kick on the

edge of the box. Dan Casey had adopted a Ronaldo-Esque run-up before seeing his effort

crash against the crossbar.

The Shots had then threatened at the other end, with Brody Peart bursting down the left

before delivering a pinpoint cross into the path of Marcus Wyllie. The forward had

connected with the ball but had been unable to generate enough power to trouble the

Fulham goalkeeper. Wyllie had gone even closer moments later, brilliantly bringing a long

ball over the top under control before driving towards the Fulham box. After creating space

away from the two defenders, he had unleashed a powerful effort towards the top-left

corner, but his strike drifted narrowly wide.

A long throw from Elijah Oladunjoye caused the usual amount of havoc in the box,

eventually falling to Conor Lawless, who had found himself with space on the edge of the

area. Lawless had fired towards goal, but his low effort had drifted just wide. Fortunatelyfor the Shots, the ball had fallen kindly for Marcus Wyllie, who had shown excellent

improvisation to steer the rebound home and bring Aldershot level.

The visitors had responded almost immediately, restoring their lead through a swift attack

down the right. Nazim Benchalita had made an intelligent underlapping run into the box

before finishing emphatically to put Fulham back in front.

It had been a relatively quiet first half from an Aldershot perspective, with much of the play

taking place in the middle third. The Shots had looked dangerous on the counter and from

set pieces but had ultimately lacked the final touch in the attacking third as they headed

into the break 2–1 down.

HALF TIME – Aldershot Town 1 – 2 Fulham U21's

The Shots made five changes at the break, including a debut for Charlie Patmore, who came

on for his first appearance in an Aldershot Town shirt.

Aldershot threatened down the left after some excellent work from Kwaku Frimpong in

midfield. The midfielder had slipped a pass through to substitute Nino Adom-Malak, who

had beaten his man before sending a dangerous cross into the box, where Conor Lawless

had seen his effort well saved by Alex Borto.

A well-worked short corner had opened space for Quashie on the edge of the box, with the

Fulham player curling a cross towards the far post. Archie Taylor had met the delivery on

the volley, but Patmore had been equal to it, producing a fine save to deny the visitors.

Sandah and Abrahams had combined superbly down the left, with the latter breaking into

the box and finding himself with a sight of goal. With the angle against him, Abrahams had

shown good awareness to square across the face of goal, with a Fulham defender's

attempted clearance almost turning into an own goal. Borto, however, reacted sharply to

claw the ball off the line and keep the visitors ahead.

The game had opened up after the break, with the Shots enjoying greater control of

proceedings, dominating possession and creating a series of chances. Sandah had once

again proved a constant threat down the left, receiving the ball from Lawless inside the

penalty area before using his quick feet to create space. He had then fired a left-footed

effort across goal and into the far corner to bring Aldershot level.

Sandah had continued to cause problems moments later, receiving the ball in space before

driving towards goal and cutting inside, but his powerful effort towards the near post had

narrowly missed the target. With neither side finding the decisive goal, despite chances at either end, normal time concluded level resulting in the need for a penalty shoot-out.

Hull City 'express interest' in Everton, Fulham and AFC Bournemouth-linked Keito Nakamura
Hull City have been credited with interest in a Fulham, Everton and AFC Bournemouth-linked winger

Hull City have reportedly expressed an interest in Stade de Reims and Japan winger Keito Nakamura.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a stellar 2025/26 campaign, registering 14 goals across 29 appearances in the second tier of French football.

He has also made his mark on the international scene with Japan, picking up 29 caps and weighing in with 11 goals.

His exploits appear to have put him on the radar of Hull, who are looking to bolster their attack with a Premier League return just around the corner.

Hull City linked with £21.5m winger
According to the BBC, the Tigers have expressed an interest in luring Nakamura from Stade de Reims.

He is said to be valued at £21.5m, a price tag that has supposedly deterred potential suitors. Earlier in the window, there was talk of interest from the likes of Everton, AFC Bournemouth and Fulham.

However, he is now thought to be keen on leaving Stade de Reims, a factor that could hand Hull a boost in their pursuit.

A move to the MKM Stadium would reunite the wideman with his international teammate Hidemasa Morita, who joined the Tigers from Sporting Lisbon earlier on in the summer.

Hull City's summer business
Hull have embarked on a signing spree since their promotion to the Premier League but most fans would argue there is still plenty of work to be done.

The Tigers are due to host Manchester United for their league opener on Saturday (August 22), with summer business not yet completed.

Regarding Hull's transfer plans, owner Acun Ilıcalı told Mail Online: "It is easy to say, 'Get the Premier League boys and be safe'. But most of the boys you can bring from the Premier League will not be wanted by their club, so you will not be able to take the shiny ones. Manchester United or City will take those shiny ones, but they will not come to us.

"So instead of Premier League players past the top of their careers, I go for those who have the dream of playing in the Premier League - boys who want to play in the best league in the world."

Crystal Palace face Arsenal and Fulham threat for signing – Eagles are ahead
Crystal Palace will face competition from Arsenal and Fulham in the race to sign Stade Brestois Raphaël Le Guen this summer.

The 19-year-old is a product of the French club's youth system. He made his way into the first team last August and has played only six matches.

Despite this, he still attracted Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Fulham and other clubs' attention.

Crystal Palace already made advances
On July 28th, Sport Witness covered claims from France that Crystal Palace agreed on personal terms with the centre-back.

The Eagles' plan is for him to replace Maxence Lacroix, who has joined Chelsea earlier in this window.

Pierre Sage's side, who haven't completed Raphaël Le Guen's transfer yet, are still keen and face a threat from Arsenal and Fulham.

Foot Mercato cover the latest on the Premier League trio.

Arsenal and Fulham can challenge Crystal Palace
The defender is still in talks with the UEFA Conference League winners, mainly because of Pierre Sage.

Crystal Palace have qualified for the Europa League. This, coupled with their focus on developing young talents, pleases the player.

The Frenchman is keen on moving to Selhurst Park because of the aforementioned three factors. Sage's side aren't alone in the transfer pursuit as the Gunners and Fulham are also showing interest.

Mikel Arteta won't be without Raphaël Le Guen's compatriot, William Saliba, for a while. Arsenal are looking for a new centre-back in this window, but their priority is to sign an experienced defender.

Fulham are planning to strengthen Álvaro Arbeloa's defence and have identified a few targets, including the Stade Brestois player.

With three clubs in the mix, the youngster's future could 'soon lie in the Premier League'.

As things stand, the Eagles are ahead, despite Arsenal and Fulham interest.

Arsenal make decision over Ethan Nwaneri's future amid interest from Fulham and Everton - after star was left out of Community Shield squad
Arsenal have decided they would prefer to allow Ethan Nwaneri out on loan rather than a permanent sale.

Mikel Arteta has praised Nwaneri following a difficult loan at Marseille and feels he needs another experience of gaining more competitive game time.

Premier League clubs such as Fulham and Everton checked on the 19-year-old earlier in the summer while RB Leipzig are among a raft of European clubs interested.

He was left out of the matchday squad for the Community Shield win over Manchester City on Sunday but Arsenal are looking to sell others such as Napoli target Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli who has interest from Al Sadd among others but wants to either stay or go to a top league if he leaves at all.

Arteta hinted that Ethan Nwaneri could be heading for the exit door prior to the Gunners' victory over City in Cardiff.

He said: 'It's unquestionable the talent, the desire, the love and the passion he has for the game. It's something that I've always loved about Ethan.

'I think he's had some great games and he's shown everybody that he has the ability to be here.

'I want him to be at the club but something that, in the medium-long term, is best for the player as well.

'Ethan needs to play football and if he stays here it's because we can guarantee that he can have those minutes.

'Otherwise it's just something that is not good for anybody I think.'

The 19-year-old sat on the Marseille bench in the second half of last season, and has recently been tracked by multiple clubs, including Galatasaray.

Fulham appearance causes change in transfer demands – Frustration building
Fulham's appearance in the battle for Arnau Martínez has caused Girona to change their asking price for the 23-year-old.

Wednesday's print edition of AS reports Valencia are growing frustrated with their fellow La Liga side as they keep moving the goalposts, thanks to Fulham.

Fulham emergence causes issues
Valencia have been keen on Arnau Martínez for a while. They've made it clear to Girona that they want a deal wrapped up quickly.

Both Girona and the player's agents have indicated that a deal could be finalised for around indicated that a deal could be finalised for around €4m plus add-ons. That was a figure Valencia were willing to meet.

They were left furious when the player started against Leganés over the weekend, despite an agreement for him to be left out. Despite this, negotiations resumed on Monday with a renewed push.

Valencia offered improved transfer terms and moved closer to Girona's demands. However, the latter then changed the terms of the deal, prompted by the 'emergence' of other clubs with 'greater financial muscle'. Fulham are one of them.

Old terms or no deal
Sport Witness covered a report yesterday explaining that Fulham were showing an interest in the player as he neared Valencia. Now their interest has prompted Girona to change their demands.

And that's caused plenty of frustration for Valencia. On two separate occasions, they have met the figures that Girona have requested. Yet these offers have not been enough to seal a deal with their La Liga counterparts.

They're not closing the door on a deal by any means. But Fulham's emergence has led Girona to move the goalposts once again. They are adamant that the deal must go through on the previously agreed terms. If not, it will not happen at all.

It now remains to be seen if Fulham make a bid or are just lingering on the outskirts causing problems for Valencia.

Arsenal rival Crystal Palace, Fulham in Raphael Le Guen chase
Arsenal may look to sign 19-year-old French defensive prodigy Raphael Le Guen from Ligue 1 club Stade Brestois 29 this summer.

According to a report by French outlet Foot Mercato, Crystal Palace and Fulham are also interested in Raphael Le Guen. The two London clubs are keen on reinforcing their defensive units by signing a centre-back in the ongoing transfer window, and they have their sights set on the Frenchman.

Who is Raphael Le Guen?
Raphael Le Guen is the latest promising prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. Born in Quimper, the 19-year-old has spent his formative years thus far in France, starting his youth career with Chateaulin FC before graduating from the youth division at Stade Brestois 29.

The French centre-back has already broken into the Ligue 1 club's first-team squad, amassing nearly 500 minutes of game time in six appearances thus far. Meanwhile, Le Guen's progress at the senior level and age-group level has provoked interest from several well-known clubs, particularly from the Premier League.

London calling?
Arsenal entered the final month of the summer transfer window knowing they needed to find a centre-back to cover for William Saliba's absence. With the first-choice central defender in the treatment room due to a long-term back injury, several candidates have emerged on Arsenal's wishlist. However, with Ezri Konsa reportedly on the verge of joining the Gunners, the interest in Le Guen is unlikely to formalise.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace's interest in Raphael Le Guen makes sense. The Eagles are combing the market for a centre-back, as they have yet to fill Marc Guehi's void since the Englishman joined Manchester City earlier this year. Additionally, Maxence Lacroix's has joined Chelsea this summer. So, Le Guen has emerged as the top target to replace his compatriot at Selhurst Park, with recent reports claiming personal terms are not an issue.

As for Fulham, the Cottagers have sold Issa Diop to Ipswich Town, while recent reports have linked Jorge Cuenca with SL Benfica. So, with Calvin Bassey and Joachim Andersen being the only other centre-backs in Alvaro Arbeloa's squad, they need an alternative, with Le Guen an option worth considering. His age profile aligns with Andersen's career trajectory, as the Frenchman can take over as the first-choice centre-back once the Dane turns 30 and starts being phased out.

The Frenchman's youthful pace and exuberance makes him an exciting target for the Premier League clubs, as they will have a long-term central defensive solution if they sign him. However, Fulham will have an uphill climb in the battle for Le Guen's signature, as the Foot Mercato report has suggested that the teenager is "keen for the opportunity to work under the French manager [Pierre Sage] and join him at Crystal Palace".

Crystal Palace And Fulham Namechecked For Senegal Star Amid 'Absolute Priority' Factor
Crystal Palace and Fulham have been namechecked as still keen on Paris FC's Senegal international Moustapha Mbow, though Sevilla have now also entered the race and made him an 'absolute priority'.

The 26-year-old has established himself as a pivotal presence in the Paris FC set-up and clocked regular game time for the capital club in Ligue 1 last term.

The centre-back also featured in Senegal's preliminary World Cup squad, although he ultimately fell short of a place in the final tournament party.

With two years remaining on his contract, Mbow could now be approaching a crossroads at Paris FC, with interest in his services gathering momentum across Europe.

The Senegal international has been linked with English sides, with suggestions dating back to May that Crystal Palace, West Ham and Fulham had all made approaches for him.

With West Ham since relegated, their chances look uncertain, but Fulham and Crystal Palace have been namechecked as suitors again by Africa Foot.

Sevilla though have now pushed themselves into the chase and made Mbow an 'absolute priority' signing.

Mbow's 'discipline and positional awareness' have impressed Sevilla sporting director Jose Ignacio Navarro, with the club believed to have 'reached an agreement' with the centre-back, although no deal has yet been struck with Paris FC.

The Spanish outfit's firm interest could accelerate the next moves surrounding Mbow in the coming days, leaving Crystal Palace and Fulham with a decision to make over pushing forward their interest.

At Palace, Maxence Lacroix has already departed for Chelsea earlier in the window, leaving the Eagles with a vacancy to address at centre-back, and Mbow could offer one solution, with the prospect of Europa League football adding another card to Palace's hand.

The south London outfit have also been linked with another centre-back in Tiago Gabriel, although Lecce remain resolute over their valuation.

Fulham are undergoing something of a revamp under Alavaro Arbeola and Mbow may be tempted by the idea of playing at Craven Cottage.

Mbow is rated at around €9m and the race for his signature is heating up.
