Andersen should be ashamed of himself. He's the biggest reason we missed out on Europe last season, had a mixed start to this season and has the audacity to blow his own horn. Hope he stays on the bench for a while.

Really, what about Leno he supposedly let in goals he should have saved, or the forwards for missing sitters, or failing to score more, same as the midfield very few goals from them.
It's a team game, everyone shares the blame or praise. I don't think it's about blowing his own horn, it's about self confidence, of course people will jump on this with all sorts of comments, he didn't have the greatest of season, but no one goes out to have a bad game, I'm sure everyone of us have days when things just don't go right.

I agree. I think that was SerbianLad's worst takes (Sorry SL, don't mean to attack you. You usually have great takes). We didn't miss out on Europe because Andersen got sent off, we missed out because we couldn't beat bottom-of-the-table Wolves.

And personally I don't think after viewing it several times it was a definite red at the time and he was unlucky to be sent off. I've seen a lot worse completely ignored by the refs by our opponents, recently against Josh King at Chelsea where one of the tackles could have permanently injured him. Maybe JA shouldn't have taken the risk but I think it was a hard tackle trying to get the ball that had a terrible impact. Plus maybe with a new manager, system and team maybe Europe can wait a bit longer until they're all ready

Huge respect for Marco Silva, he took over from that muppet in a cardigan and turned us into a Prem club.
Personally I hold no ill will for the way he left us, saw out a contract and decided not to renew, no big deal.
Had he signed a new contract he would certainty have had to refresh the squad AND change his increasingly conservative tactics though.

Parker is still unemployed....

Does anyone have a clip of this incident? I don't think it was in the highlights and I didn't see the full match.

You can see it on the FUL access video. Personally I think Maguire who is a big guy clearly stopped Josh in full flight and I don't think Josh would have had time in that split second to simulate. Also in the previous match he was fouled twice where he could have, some would say should have, gone down and didn't He often stays up or jumps over rather than falls and all credit to him.  I think it is both plain nasty and undermining for professional refs who have seen these deliberate and in the case of Chelsea ugly and dangerous fouls by big grown men who knew exactly what they were doing to accuse Josh of diving and damage a young lad's reputation in this way.

That's a good offer for hospitality. Plenty of ale & chicken sliders will make us rolling over to Palace at home slightly more palatable I guess.

Just because you arbitrarily state that it was our most important game of the season doesn't make it so. We also played another 45 minutes or so 10 vs 10, so it's not as if he doomed us, did he? I think you are blowing his mistake (stupid and annoying as it was) way out of proportion. We had 38 games to gather enough points. That Andersen made a stupid mistake in one that contributed to us loosing points in that game is just one of many, many things that we did or didn't do which in total meant no Europe for us.

Also, as has been pointed out earlier in the thread "ganske glimrende" in Danish is a more common thing to say than quite brilliantly in english. I would say that a better translation of the weight would be "really well". I think he's played well in his limited chances this season, and certainly no worse than the other defenders did in the same games. And even if I didn't agree, I think that he is entitled to believe in himself. Definitely don't deserve juvenile comments like "have some shame". The introspection should maybe be had, but maybe not by Andersen.

In my opinion.

I disagree, but fair enough.

FFC did invite pressure late in the ManU game with the introduction of Andersen and going 5 in the back

We were already under huge pressure before we went to a back 5. Arbeloa had tried to regain some attacking impetus with fresh legs prior to that sub, but we remained under pressure, hence I guess he thought that if we're under pressure lets bring someone on who can add to the defensive solidity.
Trying to say that he invited pressure by going to a back 5 simply isn't right, we were already under the cosh.

 

Yeah, the comment you're replying to is absolute nonsense. Things actually improved a bit after JA came on. In the ~15 minutes after we scored and before JA came on MU dominated possession and we allowed 7 shots. In the ~10 minutes after he came on Man U still dominated possession but we allowed only two low quality shots. Unfortunately, one of those took a wicked deflection and went in, but the fact remains that was not a high quality chance and one you're normally happy to see the opposition take in a situation like that. As a matter of fact, I actually let out a sigh of relief when I saw that shot come off his foot as I was sure it would be a relatively easy save for Leno and would allow us to kill a few more seconds off the clock.
